Performance Anxiety and Performance Enhancement with Kaite Conway, B.S., M.Sc.

09/30/2021 06:30 PM - 07:30 PM ET

Description

I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and Psychology from the University of Kentucky and continued onto earn a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion with a specialization in Sport and Exercise Psychology and a High Performance Coaching Certificate. Throughout my graduate experience, I worked with Division I and Division II athletes in psychological skills training and performance enhancement techniques.  Since graduation, I have continued working with athletes of all different competition levels (i.e. youth, elite, collegiate, and professional) as a Mental Performance Coach at the Kentucky Center for Anxiety Related Disorders, competitors, and performers.  I also cofounded a podcast and social media platform that speaks on Performance-Enhancing techniques and makes them available to the everyday athlete.  I coauthored the mental preparation course that United States Army service members use to prepare for the physical combat readiness test.  I recently accepted a full-time position as an Instructor and Performance Coach for the United States Army in the Recruiting and Retention College.

I intend to speak on performance anxiety and how that adversely impacts performance, both mentally and physically.  After discussing the psychological and physiological effects of performance anxiety, I will cover some basic level psychological skills that can be used to combat performance anxiety and/or improve mental and physical performance.  I will discuss a few different theories on energy and arousal management and how individuals can use psychological skills to achieve their respective optimal levels of energy and arousal.  I will conclude with enough time for participants to ask any questions and/or express any concerns.
